Use pressure gauge V.A.G 1371

U20-0008
  • ‒ → Close cut-off valve -B- by turning valve screw in direction of arrow.
  • ‒ Connect valve adaptor to tyre valve.
  • ‒ Pull pipe off TANK connection at breather valve or gravity valve with pressure section and connect it to gauge piece (conical connecting pipe).
  • ‒ Push free end of from gauge onto TANK connection and secure with screw clip.

Alternately open and close cut-off valve slowly by turning valve screw in opposite direction of that indicated by the arrow until tester indicates a constant pressure of 45 mbar.

  • ‒ Close cut-off valve.

Notes:

  • ◆ Should the pressure gauge receive sudden pressure in excess of its measurement range, it is possible that indicator needle will stick at top of scale. Should this occur, remove adaptor from tyre valve and blee off pressure at valve and at pressure relief screw on back of gauge.
  • ◆ Should no pressure be built up, or should pressure not be held for at least five minutes, locate leak in the following manner.

U20-0005
  • ‒ → Seal pipe -2- from valve connection TANK with a screw clip and repeat test. This tests valve and its ancillary pipes.
If pressure does not drop, seal pipe -1- from valve connection CANISTER instead of pipe from valve connection TANK with a screw clip and repeat test. Now valve, tank and associated pipes are tested.

Note:

Leaks can be localised by listening or by spraying with leak detection spray.

Important!
When a leak has been eliminated, the entire system should be rechecked. Finally, after testing, the tyre pressure should be corrected.
