Adjusting throttle controls

Note:

Throttle controls should be adjusted so that operating lever on gearbox is resting on the stop in no-throttle position when the throttle is closed (idling). Otherwise upshifts will occur too late at moderate operating speeds.

Adjusting throttle and accelerator cables

  • ◆ Selector lever in "P" position.

V37-0647
  • ‒ → Loosen accelerator cable adjustment nut and detach accelerator cable (Arrows).

U20-0016
  • ‒ → Loosen nuts -1- and -2- at bracket. Pull outer sleeve in direction of arrow until there is no play. Throttle valves must remain closed and the gearbox operating lever must remain in no-throttle position.
  • ‒ Turn nut -1- until is resting tension-free against bracket, lock nut -2- with 10 Nm. Hook throttle cable in place.
  • ‒ Depress accelerator pedal to stop (kickdown) (a second mechanic is required).

V37-0648
  • ‒ → Turn adjustment nut -A- until gearbox operating lever is resting against stop -Arrow- (Kickdown). Secure with lock nut.

Checking adjustment

  • ‒ Throttle valve lever on idling stop: Gearbox operating lever must be in no- throttle position.

U37-0001
  • ‒ → Depress accelerator pedal as far as full throttle pressure point (no kickdown). Throttle valve lever should be against full-throttle stop and spring -D- should not be compressed.

U20-0017
  • ‒ → Depress pedal past the full throttle pressure point right through to stop (kickdown). The gearbox operating lever should not be against stop and spring "a" should be depresed approx. 8 mm.
