(Carry out wiring and component check on disconnected regulate exhaust control unit plug.)

Notes:

• ◆ The hand multimeter V.A.G 1526 should be used for the test.
• ◆ The specifications given are for an ambient temperature of between 0°C and + 40°C.
• ◆ If the measured values differ from specifications, locate the fault using current flow diagram. Before renewing any components, always check wiring and connection.

• ◆ To connect the tester use the test box V.A.G 1598 with the adapter cable V.A.G 1598-3 (Golf) or V.A.G 1598-2 (Scirocco) and aux. Cables from adapter set V.A.G 1594.
• ◆ The terminal numbers in the plug and the socket numbers in the test box V.A.G 1598 are identical.

Test prerequisites:

• ● Battery voltage OK
• ● Earth wires OK
• ● Fuse Nº. 5 OK

• ‒ With ignition switched offpull plug of Lambda regulation control unit -J21-, 35-pin (Golf) or 25-pin (Scirocco).

Note:

The Lambda regulation control unit is located:

• ◆ On the Golf behind the lower glove box trim,
• ◆ On the Scirocco in plenum chamber, left.

• ‒ → Connect test box V.A.G 1598 with adapter cable V.A.G 1598-3 (Golf) or V.A.G 1598-2 (Scirocco) only to the wiring loom plug (control unit remains disconnected).

• ‒ → Connect up remote control V.A.G 1348/3A:
• ‒ Pull plug -2- of warm-up valve -1- and connect to the connector -3- of the remote control.
• ‒ Connect crocodile clip -4- to battery (+).
• ‒ Carry out checks according to following table:
• ‒ Test table Golf (35-pin connector) =>page 01-5 ,
• ‒ Test table Scirocco (25-pin connector) =>page 01-8 .
• ‒ See notes =>page 01-1 .
