The front axle drive hub nut torque has changed from 225 Nm to 265 Nm. Note: Ensure that this torque is applied when carrying out repairs to the front axle.

Attention
Before pressing the piston back, draw off the brake fluid from the master cylinder. Otherwise fluid may leak out causing damage, especially if additional fluid has been added in the meantime. To draw off the fluid, only use a brake bleeder bottle or a plastic bottle which has only contained brake fluid. Brake fluid is poisonous and must on no account be sucked out with a hose. |
Note: With vehicle standing still, fully depress brake pedal a number of times so that the brake pads move into appropriate operating positions. Modified calipers From February 1984 modified VW Mk. II calipers with a closed pad carrier are being used. |

Caution
When changing over to 6 J x 14 alloy wheels, only wheels with the Part No. 171 601 025 H can be fitted on vehicles with these new calipers in order to ensure adequate clearance. Wheels of the same version with the index |
