Initiating self-diagnosis of central locking remote control

Test prerequisites:

t	All fuses according to current flow diagram OK.

t	Battery voltage at least 9 V.

Note

t	If the display remains blank, check voltage supply for fault reader -V.A.G 1551- according to current flow diagram, → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations

t	Additional operating information can be printed out depending on the programme by pressing the HELP key on the -V.A.G 1551-.

t	The → key is used for advancing the programme sequence.

t	The PRINT key is used for switching on the printer (warning lamp in key lights up).

–	Connect fault reader -V.A.G 1551- → Chapter.

–	Switch on ignition.

Indicated on display:

–	Press keys -3- and -5- (the address word of the vehicle system to be tested “Central locking” is entered with 35).

Rapid data transfer                HELP

Enter address word XX

Indicated on display after entering the address word 35:

–	Confirm entry with the Q key.

and then the following appears in the display:

Rapid data transfer                  Q

35 Central locking

Indicated on display:

Rapid data transfer

Tester sends the address word 35

The control unit identification will be shown on the fault reader-V.A.G 1551- display, e.g.:

–	Press → key.
