Removing

Note:

The rear final drive and axle must be lowered from the vehicle to remove and install the viscous coupling, => Removing and installing rear final drive, Page 39-106 .

N39-0006
  • ‒ Lower rear final drive and axle.
  • ‒ → Remove centralising nut using spark plug socket, counterhold with lever.

N39-0007
  • ‒ → Lock 2 nuts on stud (arrow) and remove stud.
  • ‒ Press viscous coupling off final drive and remove.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence, when doing this note the following:

Note:

N39-0073
  • ‒ → Identifying viscous coupling:

I -For vehicles with 4-Cyl. engine:

without recess, shaft bevel gear from rear final drive dimension -a- = 25.5 mm.

II - For vehicles with 6-Cyl. injection engine:

with recess (arrow), shaft bevel gear from rear final drive dimension -a- = 28.0 mm.

  • ‒ Install stud using AMV 200 000.
  • ‒ Tighten centralising nut to 45 Nm.
  • ‒ Checking gearbox oil .
  • ‒ Specification => Page 00-8 .
