Checking compression → Chapter.
  Note
t  When installing an exchange cylinder head with fitted camshaft, the contact surfaces between bucket tappets and cams must be oiled after installation.
t  The plastic protectors fitted to protect the open valves must be removed only immediately before the cylinder head is fitted.
t  When cylinder head is renewed, the complete coolant must be renewed.
   
1 - Toothed belt guard upper part
2 - 45 Nm
3 - Tensioning roller
4 - Toothed belt
q   Check for wear
q   Do not kink
q   Removing, installing and tensioning → Chapter
5 - Toothed belt guard
q   Engine codes: AAM, ABS, ADZ, ANN, ANP
6 - 10 Nm
7 - Rear toothed belt guard
8 - Camshaft gear
q   Note position when installing toothed belt → Chapter.
9 - From crankcase breather.
q   → Item
q   For engine codes ABS, ADZ and ANP the crankcase breather is elongated by a metal line
10 - Pressure control valve
q   For crankcase breather
q   Only engine codes: 2E, ADY, AGG, AKR
11 - Cylinder head cover
q   For engine codes AAM, ABS ANN, ANP and ADZ plate cover with reinforcement strip
12 - Sealing cap
q   Renew seal if damaged
13 - Oil deflector
14 - Cylinder head bolt
q   Sequence when loosening and tightening → Chapter.
15 - Cylinder head cover gasket
q   Renew if damaged
q   For engine codes AAM, ABS, ADZ, ANN and ANP: 3-part, always renew
q   Before fitting coat transition points between bearing cap and cylinder head with sealant -D 454 300 A2-.
16 - Lifting eye
17 - Cylinder head
q   Check for distortion → Fig.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   If renewed, change coolant in entire system
18 - Cylinder head gasket
q   Renew
q   If renewed, change coolant in entire system
19 - 20 Nm
