Removing
   
–  Loosen alternator securing bolts -1- and -2- at least one turn.
–  Press alternator down with tensioning lever -3297- and remove poly V-belt from alternator belt pulley.
–  Remove V-belt for power steering vane pump → Running gear; Rep. Gr.48
–  Remove poly V-belt.
Installing
–  Fit poly V-belt on crankshaft pulley/vibration damper and coolant pump pulley.
–  Install V-belt for power steering vane pump → Running gear; Rep. Gr.48

–  To ensure ease of movement, press alternator down at least 3 times onto stop, using tensioning lever -3297-.
–  Press alternator down with tensioning lever -3297- and fit poly V-belt.
  Note
If engine is still removed, perform further procedure only after installing engine.
–  Run engine at idling speed for at least 10 seconds, with alternator still loose.
  Note
When tightening the alternator bolts observe the following tightening sequence, do not rest on alternator and do not touch poly V-belt.
–  Tighten securing bolt -2- to 25 Nm.
–  Tighten securing bolt -1- to 25 Nm.
