Generating readiness code
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items
-
◆ Fault reader V.A.G 1551 (or vehicle system tester V.A.G 1552) with cable V.A.G 1551/3
Notes:
-
◆ During the test sequence the engine must not be switched off.
-
◆ If the specifications are attained before the time limit expires, the test sequence can be advanced.
-
◆ On vehicles ▸Model year 96 the Bits in readiness code are set to 0 together, when the last diagnosis has been successfully completed.
-
◆ On vehiclesModel year 97▸the Bits in readiness code are set to 0 individually, for each successfully completed diagnosis.

Work step: 1
-
‒ Connect fault reader V.A.G 1551 (V.A.G 1552) and select engine electronics control unit with the "Address word" 01. When doing this the ignition must be switched on.

The relevance of the Function Bit varies depending upon the work step.
Notes:
-
◆ There must not be a fault entered in fault memory and also no fault detected during this diagnosis.
-
◆ If the CYCLE bit has a 1, the diagnosis is completed and the test sequence can be implemented.
-
◆ The specifications for the function bits must only be satisfied during the diagnosis phase (ACTIVE bit = 1).
-
◆ An x as specification in diagnosis status table means: Display can show either 0 or 1.
