Reworking cap nut in longitudinal member, vehicles with front-wheel drive |
If the threads of the cap nut in the longitudinal member are damaged, the thread must either be retapped or the cap nut must be drilled through. |
When drilling through proceed as follows: |

| Drill upwards through damaged cap nut in longitudinal member with a 10.2 mm Ø drill. |
Note When drilling, do not cant the drill. |
WARNING |

| Cut new M12 x 1.5 thread in cap nut. |
–
| Use a new bolt N 102 060 01 (M12 x 1.5 x 35) to secure rear axle. |
Note Tightening torque remains unchanged at 70 Nm. |
