Repairing wheel bearing, vehicles with four-wheel drive - disc brakes
  Note
If a vehicle has to be moved after the drive shaft has been removed, first install an outer joint instead of the drive shaft and tighten to 50 Nm because otherwise the wheel bearing will be damaged.
1 - Suspension link
2 - Self-locking hexagon socket head bolt, 60 Nm
3 - Self-locking hexagon bolt, 35 Nm
q   Renew
q   When loosening and tightening, counter hold on guide pin.
4 - Guide pin
5 - Protective cap
6 - Brake pad retaining spring
q   Always renew when changing pads.
7 - Brake pads
q   Repair instructions → Item.
8 - Brake caliper
q   Repairing → Chapter.
9 - Brake carrier
10 - Cross-head screw
11 - Wheel bolt, 110 Nm
12 - Self-locking hexagon nut
q   Renew
q   Tighten to 90 Nm and turn 45° (1/8 turn) further.
q   To tighten, we recommend using the angle wrench -V.A.G 1756-.
q   Remove any paint residue or corrosion on thread of outer joint before fitting nut.

15 - Wheel hub
q   Pressing out → Fig..
q   Pulling off inner race → Fig.
q   Pressing in → Fig..
16 - Retaining ring
q   Ensure proper seating.
17 - Wheel bearing
q   Pressing out → Fig..
q   Pressing in → Fig..
18 - Hexagon bolt, 10 Nm
19 - Cover plate
20 - Handbrake cable
q   Adjust handbrake → Chapter.
21 - Spring clip
22 - Hexagon socket head bolt, 10 Nm
23 - Speed sensor
q   Before inserting, clean and coat circumference with lubricating paste -G 000 650-.
24 - Drive shaft with rotor
q   Removing and installing rotor → Fig..
25 - Brake line

Pulling inner race off wheel hub
  Note
Use puller with arm clamp only e.g. -Kukko 204/2- (commercially available).

Pressing in wheel bearing
  Note
First insert rear circlip.

Pressing in wheel hub

First secure splash plate to suspension link.
Tightening torque: 10 Nm.

Removing and installing speed sensor rotor
–  Drive rotor off outer joint using a drift (this will destroy the rotor).
–  Carefully drive new rotor on to stop using blows of a plastic head hammer.
