  • ◆ T10007 Refractometer
  • ◆ V.A.G 1306 Drip tray
  • ◆ V.A.G 1331 Torque wrench (5 ... 50 Nm)
  • ◆ VAS 5024 Assembly tool for spring-type clips

Removing

Notes:

  • ◆ Always renew seals and gaskets.
  • ◆ The lower section of the toothed belt guard need not be removed.
  • ◆ The toothed belt should be left in position on the crankshaft sprocket.
  • ◆ Cover toothed belt with a cloth to protect it from coolant before removing coolant pump.
  • ‒ Drain coolant .
  • ‒ Remove poly V-belt .
  • ‒ Remove tensioning element for poly V-belt.

  • ‒ Remove upper and centre sections of toothed belt guard.
  • ‒ Take toothed belt off coolant pump toothed belt sprocket => page 15-7.
  • ‒ → Unscrew securing bolt -1- for rear toothed belt guard -2-.
  • ‒ Unscrew securing bolts -6- for coolant pump and remove coolant pump-5-.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence, when doing this note the following:

  • ‒ → Moisten new O-ring -4- with coolant.
  • ‒ Fit coolant pump -5-. Installation position: Coolant pump sealing plug faces downwards.
  • ‒ Tighten securing bolts -6-.
        Tightening torque: 15 Nm
  • ‒ Tighten securing bolt -1- for rear toothed belt guard -2- on cylinder head (place washer -3- underneath).
        Tightening torque: 20 Nm

Installing toothed belt and adjusting timing => Page 15-7.

  • ‒ Install ribbed belt tensioning element.
        Tightening torque: 25 Nm
  • ‒ Install poly V-belt => page 13-11.
  • ‒ Replenishing coolant => page 19-12.
