Installing > < Removing and installing master cylinder

–  Remove intake hose -1-, connector -2- and hose -3- from air mass meter.
–  Remove complete air filter housing by removing bolts -4- and -5- → Rep. gr.24.
Vehicles with ESP
–  Remove ABS control unit and hydraulic unit → Brake systems; Rep. gr.45.
Continuation for all
  A37-0192
–  Pull supply hose -A- off brake fluid reservoir and seal.
–  Pull clip -B- for pipe/hose line out of master cylinder.
–  Pull pipe/hose line -C- out of master cylinder and seal.
–  Remove lower cover on driver side → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.70.
–  If fitted, remove clutch pedal switch -F36- → Item.

Release master cylinder operating rod from clutch pedal as follows:
–  Pull clutch pedal slightly into passenger compartment.
–  Press sides of retainer inwards -arrows- using pliers -T10005-.

–  Now remove complete clutch pedal mounting bracket as follows:
–  Unbolt connecting plate -A- first -arrows 1-.
–  Then unbolt securing nuts -arrows 2- for mounting bracket -B-.
–  Remove mounting bracket.

–  Turn stop -A- for clutch pedal in -direction of arrow- and remove.

–  Then press master cylinder first in -direction of arrow 1- onto stop.
It must not be covered in upper area by over-centre spring mounting -arrow 2-.
–  Then swing it out of mounting bracket in -direction of arrow 3-.
