1 - From front exhaust pipe

6 - Rear silencer
q   Align rear silencer free of stress → Fig..
7 - Separating point
q   For repair cases
q   Marked by three indentations on circumference of exhaust pipe
q   As standard, exhaust pipe and rear silencers are installed as a single component. In case of repair, the exhaust pipe and rear silencers are supplied individually along with a double clamp.
q   Cut through exhaust pipe at separating point at right angles using e.g. pneumatic sabre saw -V.A.G 1523A- → Fig..

9 - Tunnel bridge
10 - Mounting

   
Installation position of double clamp
–  Position double clamp at a distance to marking A -arrow 1- of approx. 5 mm.
  Note
Marking -A- applies to vehicles with manual and automatic gearboxes.

Installation position of mounting
–  The angled end of mounting -arrow- points into direction of travel.

Separating point on exhaust pipe
–  Separate exhaust pipe at right angles at separating point -arrow 2-.
–  Position repair double clamp -4- between -arrow 1- and -arrow 3- when installing. Specified torque: 40 Nm.

Align rear silencer free of stress.
–  Mounting bolt on exhaust pipe must run in parallel with tunnel cross member (dimension -x- must be the same on left and right).
