Securing engine to assembly stand
Securing engine to assembly stand
When working on the engine, secure it to support clamp -VW 313- of the assembly stand using ring spanner, 6x7mm -VAS 5400-.
Procedure
–  Remove gearbox.
Vehicles with automatic gearbox
–  Secure torque converter against “falling out” after separating engine from gearbox.
Vehicles with turbocharger
   
–  Attach lifting tackle -2024 A- using shackle -3180- as follows and lift out of engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- using workshop crane -V.A.G 1202- or workshop crane -VAS 6100-.
Pulley end: 3rd hole in hook at position 1.
Flywheel end: 2nd hole in hook at position 5
  WARNING
The hooks and locating pins must be secured with locking pins.
Engine code AGN
  A10-0208
–  Attach lifting tackle -2024 A- using shackle -T10013- as follows and lift out of engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- using workshop crane -V.A.G 1202- or workshop crane -VAS 6100-.
Pulley end: 2nd hole in hook at position 1.
Flywheel end: 4th hole in hook at position 6.
  WARNING
The hooks and locating pins must be secured with locking pins.
  Note
To remove bracket -T10013-, the bracket locking plate must be lifted slightly with a screwdriver.
Continuation for all vehicles
  Note
t  The positions marked 1...4 on the bar must be towards the pulley end.
t  The holes in the hooks are counted up from the hook.

–  Secure engine to support clamp -VW 313- using engine and gearbox bracket -VW 540-.
