Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Refractometer -T10007-
t  Drip tray -V.A.G 1306-
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
t  Spring-type clip pliers -VAS 5024A-

Removing
–  Remove centre, left and right insulation trays: → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.50
–  Remove front bumper cover → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.63.
–  Bring lock carrier into service position → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.50.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Pull coolant hose quick-release couplings off radiator.
–  Pull connectors off thermal switch and radiator fans.
–  Unscrew radiator securing bolts and remove radiator with fans downwards.
Additional information and assembly work for vehicles with air conditioner
  WARNING
The air conditioner refrigerant circuit must not be opened.
  Note
To prevent damage to condenser and also to refrigerant lines/hoses, ensure that the lines and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.
–  Remove retaining clamp(s) for refrigerant lines.
–  Unbolt condenser from radiator and secure to lock carrier.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:
Filling with new coolant → Chapter.
