Removing and installing trailing arm > < Removing lower ball joint or bonded rubber bush

–  Attach tools as shown in figure.
When positioning tools, ensure that milled side -arrow- of thrust piece -T10254/3--4- is positioned correctly.
1 - Nut -T10254/4- with spindle -T10254/5-
2 - Thrust piece -T10254/1-
3 - Bonded rubber bush
4 - Thrust piece -T10254/3-
5 - Hydraulic press -VAS 6178-
Sufficient clearance must be guaranteed during press work.
–  Pull in bonded rubber bush.
–  Position lower transverse link on trailing arm and secure with new bolt and nut.
–  Attach shock absorber to trailing arm → Chapter.
–  Install spring:
Installing spring → Chapter.
Installing spring, R32 → Chapter.

Bolts for lower transverse link may be tightened only when dimension -a- measured prior to assembly has been attained!
–  Turn wheel hub until a wheel bolt hole is uppermost.
–  Attach support -T10149- with a wheel bolt.
–  Raise wheel bearing housing using engine and gearbox jack until dimension -a- is attained.
  WARNING
t  Do not raise or lower vehicle when engine and gearbox jack is under vehicle.
t  Do not leave engine and gearbox jack under vehicle longer than necessary.
–  Tighten bolts for transverse link to specified torque.

Torque settings 
Transverse link to trailing arm
Use new bolts and nuts!
70 Nm + 90°
Shock absorber to trailing arm110 Nm
12-point nut to wheel hub → Chapter
