Removing and installing oil pump
  Caution
The oil supply line must be renewed on the turbocharger if a new oil pump or oil suction pipe is fitted.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Counterhold tool -T10172-
Removing
–  Remove sump → Chapter.
–  Hold oil pump chain sprocket with counterhold -T10172-.

–  Loosen chain sprocket securing bolt.
  Note
Do not remove bolt completely.
  N17-10018
–  Press chain tensioner in direction of arrow with a screwdriver.
–  Remove chain sprocket securing bolt.
–  Take chain sprocket off oil pump and out of chain.

–  Loosen oil pump securing bolts -arrows- and remove them.
–  Remove oil pump from cylinder block.
Installing
  Caution
The oil supply line must be renewed on the turbocharger if a new oil pump or oil suction pipe is fitted.
–  Install oil pump and tighten securing bolts to 14 Nm + 1/4 turn (90°) further.
Specified torque oil suction pipe: 9 Nm
  N17-10021
–  Press chain tensioner in direction of arrow with a screwdriver.
–  Seat chain sprocket in chain and fit chain sprocket onto oil pump shaft.
  N17-10019
–  Observe installation position of chain sprocket on oil pump shaft -arrow-.
–  Fit chain sprocket securing bolt.
–  Hold chain sprocket with counterhold -T10172-.
  N17-10020
–  Fit torque wrench (5…50 Nm) -V.A.G. 1331- as shown.
–  Tighten securing bolt to 20 Nm +1/4 turn (90°) further.
–  Install sump → Chapter.
