Removing
–  Pull storage compartment out of trim mounting on drivers side.
–  Remove footwell vent below steering column → Heating, air conditioning; Rep. gr.80.
   
For vehicles with knee airbag:
  Note
Lettering „AIRBAG“-arrow 1- is located on trim under storage compartment on right next to steering wheel. When this is present a knee airbag is installed.
–  Remove knee airbag → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.69.
–  Remove bolts -arrows 2-.
–  Remove left and right trim on driver's side → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.70.

–  Remove bolts -arrows- for knee airbag bracket from assembly carrier.
  N48-10370
–  Remove bolts -arrows- on left side of knee airbag bracket.
–  Bracket for knee airbag.
Continuation for all models:
  N48-10371
–  Unbolt crash bar for brake pedal -2- from mounting bracket of steering column -1- and remove.
–  If fitted, remove noise insulation from brake pedal.
–  Separate brake pedal from brake servo → Chapter.

–  Remove bolt -1- for brake pedal towards the left, while holding the nut -arrow-.
–  Remove brake pedal.
Installing
–  Install in reverse order.
  N46-10233
Specified torques: 
Brake pedal on mounting bracket
t  Use new nut.
25 Nm
