Cover and retaining ring must always be renewed. Never install a new cover with a hammer and never oil the centre seal or touch it with a hand!
  Caution
Do not grasp a new cover in the centre hole. The cover hole must also not be oiled or brought into contact with other materials. Leaks will result.

–  Only handle cover as shown -in this picture-.
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Assembly sleeve -T10302-„Clean before using. Do not use a scratched sleeve“.

New cover must be free of oil and dry around centre seal!
–  If necessary, clean end of clutch shaft.
There must be no stickers on the inside of the cover.
–  If there are nonetheless, carefully remove sticker(s)!
Only the seal along the outer edge may be moistened with → DSG oil.
–  Set sleeve on a flat surface.
The centre seal of the new cover must now be »preformed«:
  N01-0453
–  Guide cover horizontally and evenly over entire sleeve. This will bring the sealing lip into installation position.
–  Now remove sleeve upwards out of cover and set sleeve on end of clutch shaft.

–  Guide cover horizontally over sleeve and press evenly onto its seat.
  Caution
Handle with care. Any sort of blow to the cover is certain to cause leaks.

It is possible to lever cover carefully into its seat with a -screwdriver- until »new« retaining ring can be installed.
–  Install new retaining ring.
