Removing and installing bevel box - Golf 2009 ► all-wheel drive Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782-

t  Socket -T10107- Removing Perform the following steps: –  Remove noise insulation → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.50. –  Remove right drive shaft → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr.40. –  Remove subframe without steering box → Rep. gr.40. –  Remove front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter → Rep. gr.26.

–  Unbolt heat shield above right drive shaft -arrows-. –  Drain engine oil.

–  Pull connector -1- off oil level and oil temperature sender -G266-.

–  Remove bolts -1- and -2-.

–  Remove bolts -arrows-, pull oil return line off turbocharger and press to right.

–  Remove right flange shaft bolt -arrow 1- with socket -T10107-.

–  Remove bolts -arrows- for bevel box to gearbox. –  Pull bevel box together with right flange shaft off gearbox. Installing Install in reverse order of removal. During this step, observe the following: –  Push bevel box together with flange shaft onto gearbox while turning flange shaft. –  Bolt bevel box onto gearbox using 4 new bolts. Torque setting → Anchor

–  Screw in bolts -1- and -2- for securing bevel box bracket hand-tight. –  Observe tightening sequence: 1 -  Tighten bolts -2- to 40 Nm. 2 -  Tighten bolts -1- to 40 Nm. –  Install front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter → Rep. gr.26. –  Install subframe → Rep. gr.40. –  Install right drive shaft → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr.40. –  Bolt oil return line to turbocharger → Rep. gr.21. –  Check oil level in bevel box and top up → Chapter. –  Install noise insulation → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.50. –  Fill engine with oil. → Booklet38. Specified torques
