Removing and installing coolant circulation pump 2V178 (Golf, Passat, Touran)
Removing and installing coolant circulation pump 2 -V178- (Golf, Passat, Touran)
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hose clamps up to  25 mm -3094-
  W00-0079
t  Hose clip pliers -VAS 6362-
Removing
–  Remove noise insulation -1- → Rep. gr.50.

–  Remove air hose, loosen hose clips -1- and -2- for this.

  WARNING
Danger of injury; the radiator fans can run at any time.
Even if ignition is switched off, radiator fans can run at any time, e.g. because of accumulated heat in the engine compartment.
–  Remove bolts -arrows-.
–  Undo hose clip -2- and push right air duct to right.
  Note
Disregard -item 1, 3-.
  Note
  A21-10435
Place a cloth underneath coolant circulation pump 2 -V178- to absorb escaping coolant.
–  Clamp off coolant hoses with hose clamps -3094- and remove; to do this, loosen hose clips -3-.
–  Disconnect electrical connector -2-.
–  Undo bolt -1- and remove coolant circulation pump 2 -V178-.
  Note
Ignore -arrow-.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
l  Specified torque → Chapter.
  Note
t  Hose unions and air intake pipes/hoses must be free of oil and grease when installing.
t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Electronic parts catalogue.
–  Install air pipe.
–  Installing intake hoses with screw-type clips.
–  Install noise insulation → Rep. gr.50.
–  Check coolant level → Chapter.
