  Note
t  After working on the exhaust system, ensure that the system is not under stress and that there is sufficient clearance to the bodywork. If necessary, loosen double clamp and align silencer and exhaust pipe so that sufficient clearance is maintained to the bodywork and the support rings are evenly loaded.
t  Renew self-locking nuts.
   
1 - 25 Nm
q   Renew
2 - Retaining rings
q   Renew if damaged.
3 - Silencer
q   Golf Cabrio: to remove, remove diagonal strut -A-
4 - 25 Nm
5 - Tunnel bridge
q   Specified torque for tunnel bridge → Rep. gr.50
6 - Mounting
q   Renew if damaged.
7 - Double clamp
q   Not shown
q   Aligning exhaust system free of tension → Chapter.

   
Diagonal struts only on Golf Cabrio
Specified torque of diagonal struts -A- → Rep. gr.42 → Anchor
