Supporting engine in installation position, Passat, Passat CC, Eos, Golf and Scirocco

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Support bracket -10-222 A-

t	Adapter -10-222 A/3-

t	Adapter -10-222 A/18-

t	Adapter -10-222 A/1-

t	Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-

t	Spring-type clip pliers -VAS 6362-

Procedure

WARNING

When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to the cramped conditions:

t	Route all the various lines in their original positions.

t	Ensure that there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.

–	Remove engine cover panel → Chapter.

–	Remove air filter housing → Chapter.

–	Remove intake hose between air mass meter -G70- and intake connecting pipe.

Caution

To prevent damage to the electronic components when disconnecting the battery:

Observe notes on procedure for disconnecting the battery.

–	Disconnect earth wire -arrow- from battery with ignition switched off → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.

–	Remove battery and battery tray -arrows- → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.

–	Remove supplementary fuel pump -V393- or fuel pump 2 -V277- (fuel lines remain connected) → Fuel supply - Diesel engines; Rep. gr.20.

–	Set up support bracket -10-222 A- with necessary adapters as illustrated and support engine in installation position.

Note

The securing bolts for the assembly mountings may only be removed if the engine is supported with support bracket -10-222 A-!
