  Caution
When installing a new short engine, it is compulsory to fix and tighten the clamping jaws of the injectors with the specified torque after installing the high-pressure lines → Chapter. Clamping jaws are only secured »hand-tight« for setting the injectors while installing high-pressure lines. Non-observance of these notes may lead to damage to engine.
   
1 - Cylinder block
q   Removing and installing sealing flange and flywheel → Chapter.
q   Removing and installing crankshaft → Chapter.
q   Dismantling and assembling pistons and conrods → Chapter
2 - Gasket
q   Renew.
3 - Oil filter bracket
4 - 15 Nm + turn 90° further
q   Renew.
q   First fit upper left and lower right bolts and then tighten all 4 bolts in diagonal sequence.
5 - Bracket
6 - 10 Nm
7 - Connection
q   For thermostat.
8 - 15 Nm
9 - O-ring
q   Renew.
10 - Thermostat
q   Observe installation position, Removing and installing thermostat → Chapter.
q   Checking: heat thermostat in water.
q   Opening begins at approx. 85 °C.
q   Ends at approx. 105 °C.
q   Opening lift at least 7 mm.
11 - 20 Nm + turn 180° further.
12 - Bracket
q   For ancillaries
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
13 - 40 Nm + turn 45° further
q   Renew.
14 - Poly V-belt tensioning element
15 - Oil sump
q   Clean sealing surface before fitting.
q   Install with silicone sealant -D 176 404 A2-.
16 - 15 Nm
