Removing and installing engine bracket, Golf and Scirocco
Removing
–  Remove engine cover → Chapter.
–  Remove intake line between air mass meter -G70- and turbocharger.
–  Remove fuel filter → Fuel supply - diesel engines; Rep. gr.20.
–  Remove supplementary fuel pump -V393- or fuel pump 2 -V277- → Fuel supply system - diesel engines; Rep. gr.20.
–  Support the engine in its installation position → Chapter.
  Note
t  The assembly mounting may only be removed if the engine is supported with support bracket 10-222A!
t  The engine bracket must be loosened only when the assembly mounting has been removed.
–  Unscrew bolts -B- and -C-.
   
–  Unscrew bolts -A- and remove the engine mounting.

–  Unscrew coolant line securing bolt -arrow-.
–  Remove front right wheel housing liner: → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.

–  Unscrew bottom coolant line securing bolt -arrow-.
  WARNING
When raising and lowering engine using support bracket -10-222A-, ensure that no components or hoses are damaged, overstretched or torn off.
  Note
The securing bolt -1- is accessible through an aperture in the wheel housing. Raise and lower the engine via the spindle of the support bracket -10 - 222 A-, if necessary, to remove or fit bolts -2- and -3-.

–  Unscrew securing bolts of engine bracket in sequence -3…1-.
–  Remove engine bracket upwards.
Installing
Install in reverse order. In the process, note the following:
  Caution
The tightening sequence and specified torques for the engine bracket securing bolts must always be followed. Otherwise the engine bracket can be stressed, causing it to break.
–  Install engine bracket from above.
  Note
The securing bolt -1- is accessible through an aperture in the wheel housing. Raise and lower the engine via the spindle of the support bracket -10 - 222 A-, if necessary, to remove or fit bolts -2- and -3-.
–  Initially screw in new securing bolts finger-tight in the sequence -1...3-.

Tightening sequence for engine bracket
–  Tighten mounting bolts to the prescribed torque in the specified sequence → Item.

–  Fit power unit mounting and tighten bolts -A- first and then -C-. Specified torque → Chapter.
–  Move engine bracket into contact with power unit mounting.
–  Locate and tighten bolts -B-. Specified torque → Chapter
Further assembly is basically the reverse of the dismantling sequence. In the process, note the following:
t  Ensure that fuel hose connections are tight.
t  Do not interchange supply and return lines (return line blue or with blue markings, supply line black).
