Removing and installing exhaust gas temperature sender 3G495
Removing and installing exhaust gas temperature sender 3 -G495-
  Caution
Threads of exhaust temperature sender -G495- and -G648- are coated. DO NOT also grease with high-temperature paste. It is imperative to tighten to the torque specified → Chapter. Otherwise this can lead to loosening of the nuts/bolts and subsequent failure.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Tool set, 17 mm -T10395-
Removing
–  Remove Lambda probe -G39- with lambda probe heater -Z19- → Chapter.
–  Disconnect electrical connector for exhaust gas temperature sender 3 -G495- and free electrical wiring.

Passat and CC, connector for exhaust gas temperature sender 3 -G495-- item 2-
  N10-10331
–  Unscrew exhaust temperature sender 3 -G495--item 1-.
Installing
l  Specified torque → Chapter „Assembly overview - exhaust gas temperature regulation“.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Fit cable tie in same place when installing.

Installation position of exhaust temperature sender 3 -G495--item 1-:
l  Angled end to left-hand side of vehicle.
l  Angle -α- to marking -arrow- = approx. 17°.
l  Specified torque → Chapter
–  Install Lambda probe -G39- together with lambda probe heater -Z19- → Chapter.
–  Electrical connections and routing → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
