Checking control line to turbocharger > < Testing vacuum system
Checking supply line, vacuum reservoir and non-return valve
Checking supply line, vacuum reservoir and non-return valve
–  Remove engine cover → Chapter.
–  Unclip exhaust gas recirculation cooler changeover valve -N345- from bracket on intake manifold.
   
–  Detach vacuum hose at lower connection -arrow in I- from exhaust gas recirculation cooler changeover valve -N345- and from charge pressure control solenoid valve -N75--arrow in II-.
–  Seal open hose ends with suitable plugs.
  Note
Do not use screws or threaded bolts.
–  Pull off vacuum hose -arrow- from the vacuum pump connection.

–  Connect hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to the hose which has been removed and generate a vacuum of 0.6 bar.
–  Watch the gauge of the hand vacuum pump for about 30 sec.
l  Vacuum must not drop.
If vacuum drops:
–  Find damage or leaking connections in hose line and replace that section of hose.
If pressure does not drop:
–  Pull hose off the hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213-.
–  Remove one of the plugs from hose ends.
–  If the non-return valve functions properly, a clear hiss is audible when vacuum in vacuum reservoir is released.
If no hiss is audible:
–  Replace check valve.
If a hiss is audible:
–  Reconnect vacuum hoses.
