| The camshafts are mounted in the camshaft housing on this engine. Before removing camshaft housing, first remove valve timing housing. |

| Remove valve timing housing (Eos, Golf Plus, Scirocco, Golf, Polo, Sharan, Golf Cabriolet) → Chapter. |

| Remove valve timing housing (Tiguan, Touran) → Chapter. |
t
| Remove valve timing housing (Passat, Passat CC) → Chapter. |
t
| The camshaft housing sealing surface must not be reworked. |

| First check whether a coded radio is fitted. If so, obtain anti-theft coding. |

| With ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap. |

| Remove air filter (Eos, Golf Plus, Scirocco, Golf, Polo, Sharan, Passat, Passat CC, Golf Cabriolet) → Chapter. |

| Drain coolant (Passat, Passat CC) → Chapter. |
–
| Remove coolant hoses and line/wiring guides. |
–
| Remove valve timing housing (Eos, Golf Plus, Scirocco, Golf, Polo, Sharan, Golf Cabriolet) → Chapter. |

| Remove valve timing housing (Tiguan, Touran) → Chapter. |
–
| Remove valve timing housing (Passat, Passat CC) → Chapter |

| Turn crankshaft to TDC no. 1 cylinder. Then turn crankshaft back 45° against engine direction and remove camshaft timing sprockets with timing chain → Chapter |

| Unbolt camshaft sealing covers. |
–
| Pull connectors off fuel pressure sender for low-pressure -G410- and off high-pressure pump. |
–
| Unscrew earth cable from camshaft housing. |
–
| Remove ignition coils. Use puller -T10094 A- for this purpose → Chapter. |

| Remove cable guide with wiring harness from camshaft housing. |
