  WARNING
Fuel system is under pressure! Wear eye protection and protective clothing to avoid possible injury and skin contact. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection.
Test prerequisite
l  The fuel pressure must be OK. Checking → Chapter.
   
–  Pull connectors -arrows- off all injectors.
–  Unclip wiring harness for injectors.
–  Detach fuel rail from intake manifold.
–  Pull fuel rail with injectors out of intake manifold (fuel lines remain connected).
–  Remove rear seat bench.
–  Remove cover from fuel delivery unit.

–  Connect remote control for V.A.G 1348 -V.A.G 1348/3A- to contact -5- of fuel pump and battery positive (+) using adapter cables from auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594C-.
–  Connect contact -1- on connector and contact -1- on fuel pump using adapter cables from auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594C-.
  Note
This step serves only to have the fuel pump running when the engine is stopped.
–  Check injectors for leaks (visual check). No more than 1 to 2 drops per minute must escape from each valve when fuel pump is running.
If the fuel loss is greater:
–  Renew leaking injector → Chapter.
  Note
Always renew seals.
