Removing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Lambda probe open ring spanner set -3337-
  W00-0206
–  Remove engine cover -arrows-.
  A10-1564
–  Remove electrical connector -arrow- for Lambda probe -G39- from retainer and separate. Move Lambda probe cables clear.
  A26-10134
–  Unscrew Lambda probe -arrow- from below using Lambda probe socket.
Installing
When installing, note the following:
t  When replacing Lambda probe, erase learnt values in engine control unit → vehicle diagnosis tester“Guided fault finding”.
t  New Lambda probes are coated with an assembly paste. The paste must not get into the slots on the probe body.
t  If reusing Lambda probe, lubricate threads of with high temperature paste -G 052 112 A3-. Paste may not come into contact with slots on probe body. High-temperature paste → Electronic parts catalogue (ETKA)
t  When installing, the Lambda probe cable must always be reattached at the same points to prevent it from coming into contact with the exhaust pipe.
t  Specified torque 55 Nm.
