Perform check only if there is a loss of torque. This means when there is a lack of elasticity or a lack of pulling power.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213-
  W00-10259
t  Vacuum tester -V.A.G 1368-
l  The variable intake manifold change-over valve -N156- was checked with vehicle diagnosis tester in “Guided fault finding”.
If the variable intake manifold change-over valve -N156- is OK, perform the following tests:
–  Check that vacuum lines are connected correctly.
–  Check vacuum hoses for porosity.
–  Check vacuum system for leaks.
–  Check vacuum unit in intake manifold upper part for leaks → Chapter.
