q   Renew.
q   Lubricate before installing.
2 - Dipstick guide tube
3 - Bolt
q   9 Nm
4 - Bolt
q   9 Nm
5 - Inlet camshaft control valve 1 -N205-
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
6 - Seal
q   Lubricate before installing.
q   Renew if damaged.
7 - Bolt
q   Tightening sequence → Chapter.
8 - Timing chain cover (top)
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Tightening sequence → Fig..
9 - Seal
q   Renew if damaged.
10 - O-ring
q   Renew.
q   Lubricate before installing.
11 - Dowel pins
q   For centring cover
12 - Lower timing chain cover
q   Tightening sequence for version with 15 bolts → Fig..
q   Tightening sequence for version with 8 bolts → Fig..
q   Removing and installing.
   Passat CC → Chapter
   Golf, Eos, Scirocco → Chapter
   Tiguan → Chapter
13 - Bolt
q   Renew.
q   Tightening sequence for version with 15 bolts → Fig..
q   Tightening sequence for version with 8 bolts → Fig..
14 - Oil seal
q   For vibration damper.
q   Renewing → Chapter.
15 - Plug
q   Renew.

   
Timing chain cover (top), tightening sequence
–  Tighten bolts -1 to 5- in two stages in the sequence shown:
1 - Tighten bolts hand-tight
2 - Tighten bolts to 9 Nm.

Lower timing chain cover - tightening sequence for version with 15 bolts
–  Tighten bolts -1 to 15- in two stages in the sequence shown:
–  1. Tighten bolts to 8 Nm.
–  2. Turn bolts 45° further
