Removing and installing fuel filter
»Carry out the following work sequence«
Removing
   
–  Open quick-release fasteners -A- and -B- of fuel lines.

Models with engine codes CAYB, CAYC
–  Disconnect electrical connector -1- at fuel temperature sender -G81-.
–  Open clamps -2+4- and pull off fuel hoses.
Continuation for vehicles with 2.0 l diesel engine
–  Open clamps and pull fuel hoses → Item (5) and → Item (6) off fuel filter.

Continuation for all vehicles
–  Unclip retainer for coolant hose -1- by pushing it to one side.
–  Remove securing bolts → Item.
–  Remove fuel filter upwards.
Installing
Install in reverse order. In the process, note the following:
t  Route fuel hoses without kinking.
t  Ensure that fuel hose connections are tight.
t  Do not interchange fuel supply and return lines (return line is blue or with blue markings and supply line is white or with white markings).
t  Clip fuel and coolant hoses into retainers again.
–  Bleed fuel system → Rep. gr.23.
