Mono-Motronic ECM wiring harness improved as of VIN: 1H_SM047014.

Service

- Obtain radio code from customer.
- Disconnect battery.

- Remove plenum cover -1- (see illustration 80-511.)

- Disconnect harness connector -B- from Mono-Motronic ECM (J257) (see illustration 24-M995)
- Cut tie wrap that secures connector cover -A- to harness connector and remove cover.
- Check Mono-Motronic ECM (J257) harness connector for presence of black wire at terminal 40.
- Remove black wire from terminal 40 of the ECM harness connector -B-.
- Insulate black wire terminal with shrink wrap tubing (available locally).

- Install rubber cap Part No.: 357 972 840 into empty cavity on harness connector.
- Reinstall connector cover -A- to harness connector and secure with new tie wrap Part No.: N 020 902 2.
- Reinstall harness connector to Mono-Motronic ECM (J257).
- Reinstall plenum cover.
- Connect battery.
- Enter radio code.
