Steering Column Control Module: Service and Repair

Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module J527 , Removing And Installing

NOTE:

-

After installing a new control module, it must be coded.

-

If malfunctions occur at steering column switch, coding of control module must be checked.

Removing:

-

Remove screw - 1 - .

CAUTION:  DO NOT attempt to remove control module without releasing center retaining clip as described in next step. Damage to control
module will result.

Insert a wire, small screwdriver or drill with 2.5 mm as illustrated - 2 - approx. 45 mm into hole - arrow 1 - in order to release center retaining clip
- arrow 2 - . It may be necessary to twist the tool slightly in order to release clip.

Only after center retaining clip has been released:

-

Use a small screwdriver to depress rear retaining clip as illustrated - arrow - .

Carefully pull Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module J527 downward from steering column switches.
