There are 2 different distances between the ball tracks of the ball hub, a larger and a smaller one.

Insert the hub with the cage and ball bearings upright into the joint piece.

When inserting, make sure that in each case the wide gap -  a - at the joint piece contacts the narrow gap - b - at the hub after swinging in.

Chamfer on inner diameter of ball hub (splines) must face large diameter of joint piece.

Also observe chamfer on inner diameter of ball hub which must be visible after swinging in.

Swing in the ball hub, to do so swing out hub far enough from cage -  arrows - so that the ball bearings have the distance of the running paths.

Swing in the hub with the ball bearings by pressing forcefully onto cage - arrow -.

CV Joint, Checking for Function 

The CV joint is properly assembled, if the ball hub can be slid back and forth by hand over the whole compensation length.
