Installing
Installing
–  Tie an approx. 92 cm long cord to the cord shoe of the draw belt.
   
–  Insert the reinforcement plate with drawing belt into the convertible roof liner -arrow-.
  Note
t  To insert the reinforcement plate, use a strong flexible cable (long enough to insert it into the convertible roof liner) with a “Y” form at the end of this cable.
t  Observe the original installation position of the reinforcement plate.

–  Press the securing clips -1- of the reinforcement plate out of the convertible roof liner.
  Note
Remove the new relays and the relay eye from the cords when using a new liner guide slide. Use the new relay and the new relay eye only if the relays and the relay eye are damaged.

–  Guide the lower cord -1- through the centre relay -2- and then through the relay eye -3-.

–  Guide the upper cord through the upper relay -arrow-.

–  Guide both cords through the holes of the liner guide slide and secure it with a knot -1- to its original position.
  Note
t  The cords must be tied with a knot to the rear side of the guide liner slide.
t  Tie the knots as close to the end of the cord as possible.

–  Fit the guide liner slide -1- to the reinforcement plate -2-. To do this press the securing clips -3- carefully together with pliers. Observe the correct installation position of the securing clips with the holes of the guide liner slide.
  Note
Ensure that the cords are not pinched/trapped between the liner guide slide and the reinforcement plate.

–  Insert the guide rail - liner -1- into the guide liner slide -2-.
  Note
t  The upper cord -3- must be routed behind the liner guide rail.
t  The lower cord -4- must be routed before the liner guide rail.

–  Insert the guide rail - liner -1- into the frame -2- and secure the two lower points -3- with pop rivets.

–  Route the upper cord -2- behind the crossed frame -1- and over the extended frame -3-.
  Note
Guide the cord through highest and rearmost point.

–  Guide the upper cord -1- with relay cord and cord shoe -2- to the inclined frame -3-.
–  Using a pop rivet secure the relay cord with cord shoe -2- to the vertical frame -4- and the upper point of the guide rail -5- (with flat side of cord shoe towards the frame) at an angle of approx. 45° to the horizontal line of the vehicle.
–  Secure the upper cord shoe -1- to the upper hole -arrow- on the inclined frame -3- (with the flat side of the cord shoe towards the frame) at an angle of approx. 45° to the horizontal line of the vehicle.
  WARNING
t  Care must be used when inserting a rivet into the lower hole, otherwise the cord will be damaged.
t  Position the flat side of both eyes towards the frame, otherwise the system may malfunction.

–  Secure lower cord shoe -1- to the frame.

–  Pull out the cord shoe which is fitted with a cord until the cord shoe is accessible -arrow-.
–  Secure the cord shoe of the draw belt.
–  Loosen the cable from the cord shoe.
–  Open convertible roof cover, and close if necessary, to check the correct operation of the convertible roof cover.
–  Once the convertible roof liner tensioning system has been repaired, install roof leading edge trim → Chapter
