About the New Beetle
The New Beetle was introduced in 1998, styled after the original Beetle but with its engine in the front driving the front wheels, and luggage space in the rear. It was facelifted in 2005, joined by a convertible, and made until 2011, when the Beetle (A5) replaced it.
What these manuals cover
- 2001–2005: the 2.0-litre four, the 1.8 turbo (including the Turbo S) and the 1.9 TDI.
- 2006–2007: the 2.5-litre five-cylinder in hatchback and convertible, and the 1.9 TDI.
