Removing

• ‒ Observe safety precautions
• ‒ With ignition switched off disconnect battery earth strap.

Note:

If necessary the anti-theft coding for the radio must be obtained first.

• ‒ Remove cover in luggage boot floor.

• ‒ → Pull connector and supply and return pipes off flange.
• ‒ Remove union nut with 3217.
• ‒ Pull flange and seal out of the opening in fuel tank.
• ‒ Release delivery unit by turning to left out of bayonet connection and remove.

Note:

If the delivery unit is still full of fuel, empty it before replacing.

Installing

Installing the fuel delivery unit is carried out in the reverse order.

Notes:

• ◆ When inserting the fuel delivery unit ensure that the fuel gauge sender is not bent.
• ◆ Coat flange seal with fuel when fitting.
• ◆ Fitting position of fuel delivery unit flange => Page 20-12 , Fig. 1 .

→ When the fuel delivery unit is correctly installed the fuel gauge sender float pointsto direction of travel A.
Vehicles with front wheel drive
     Variant α = 5...10 °
     Saloon α = 70...75 °
Vehicles with four wheel drive
     β =15...20 °
