The Simos control unit (J361) for the fuel injection and ignition system is equipped with a fault memory.

If faults occur in the sensors and components being monitored, they will be stored in the fault memory together with an indication of the type of fault.

The stored faults are output after initiating the fault display .

This fault memory must be erased once the faults have been eliminated => Page 01-9 .

A fault relating to the function of the Lambda control system can only be interrogated after a test drive of at least 10 minutes duration.

Faults which can be attributed to a tempory open circuit in the wiring or a loose contact, will also be stored. These faults will be displayed as sporadic faults "SP" and are automatically cancelled if they are not repeated after 50 engine starts.
