Removing and installing bonded rubber bush > < Checking function of constant velocity joint

Repairing rear axle (front-wheel drive vehicles)
  Note
t  The rear axle and wheel bearings are identical on basic and Plus running gear.
t  Welding and straightening work must not be carried out on the axle beam.
1 - Wheel bolt, 110 Nm
2 - Self-locking hexagon nut, 70 Nm
q   When nut is tightened, axle beam must be in the horizontal position (unladen vehicle state).
3 - Hexagon bolt, 25 Nm
4 - Suspension strut
q   Removing and installing → Fig. to → Fig..
q   Dismantling and assembling → Chapter.
5 - Wheel bearing
q   Repairing vehicles with drum brakes → Chapter.
q   Repairing vehicles with disc brakes → Chapter.
6 - Self-locking hexagon nut, 80 Nm
q   Use only self-locking nuts with captive washer.
q   When nut is tightened, axle beam must be in the horizontal position (unladen vehicle state).
7 - Hexagon bolt
q   Insert from centre of vehicle.
8 - Flange bolt, 70 Nm
q   Reworking cap nut in longitudinal member when thread is damaged → Chapter.
9 - Bearing bracket with retainer for brake pressure regulator
q   Installation position → Fig..
q   After installation, check total toe setting of rear axle and align if necessary.
q   If possible do not loosen when removing rear axle.
10 - Hexagon nut with collar, 35 Nm
11 - Bracket for regulating spring
12 - Bonded rubber bush
q   Inner: note installation position → Anchor.
q   Outer: note installation position → Anchor.
q   Removing → Chapter.
q   Installing → Chapter.
q   Renew only as pair.
13 - Axle beam
q   Keep contact surface and tapped holes for stub axle free from paint and dirt.
14 - Retainer for handbrake cable

   
Unbolting and bolting suspension strut to body
–  Removing and installing cover for belt inertia reel → Body repairs; Rep. Gr.70.
–  Removing and installing belt inertia reel → Body repairs; Rep. Gr.68.
Specified torque for belt inertia reel bolt -arrow-: 40 Nm.

Unbolting and bolting suspension strut to body
Remove and install both securing bolts -arrows- from vehicle interior (viewed through rear left side window).
Specified torque: 25 Nm

Removing and installing suspension strut
Suspension strut is additionally fastened to body with 4 retaining lugs. To remove, turn suspension strut until retaining lugs lie in cut-outs.

Bolting mounting bracket to axle beam
Angle to axle beam 13° 30′ ± 1°.
