No load voltage measurement
No load voltage measurement
  WARNING
The battery plugs must be screwed in tightly when charging, measuring voltage or performing load tests.
Ensure that following notes are observed otherwise correct measurements can not be guaranteed.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Digital multimeter -V.A.G 1315 A- or
t  Mini tester -V.A.G 1362- or
t  Hand multimeter -V.A.G 1526- or -V.A.G 1526 A-
  Note
t  If no load voltage measurement is carried out with the battery installed in the vehicle then it is absolutely necessary to disconnect the earth strap.
t  The vehicle must not be started or driven with the battery that is to be tested for at least 2 hours before making the measurements.
t  The battery must not be loaded by connected consumers for at least 2 hours before making the measurements.
t  The battery must not be charged for at least 2 hours before making the measurements.
Check the battery voltage in a no load condition as follows:
–  With battery installed and ignition switched off check voltage between terminals with test unit.
If the measuring unit displays a voltage of 12,5 V or greater the battery is OK.
The battery no load voltage must at no time drop below 12.5 V if this is the case then recharge battery immediately → Chapter.
