Alignment: Service and Repair

General
Wheel alignment on the vehicle should only be measured with alignment equipment approved by VW.
When measuring, the front and rear axles must be measured every time.

Perform wheel alignment using the alignment machine.
You can find all the information you need for a wheel alignment in the alignment computer.

Note:

Do not carry out wheel alignment until the vehicle has been driven 1000 to 2000 km, because the coil springs will not have settled until then.

The individual specifications should be followed as exactly as possible when making adjustments.
If the installed position of the rear axle and the direction of travel of the vehicle are not considered, a crooked steering wheel may result.
Steering wheel and steering column are marked.
These positions must not be changed!
A - Marked line on steering wheel
B - Punch mark on steering column
Otherwise the center position of the steering rack cannot be guaranteed.
Vehicles with Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP)
If the steering wheel is off-center, the basic setting for the steering angle sensor G85 must be checked.
Steering columns supplied as a spare part do not have a center punch mark.
After wheel alignment and following test drive the steering column must be marked.
