1. Obtain audio coded anti-theft code, then raise and support rear of vehicle.
2. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheels.
3. Disconnect rear brake pressure regulator spring if equipped, Fig. .
4. Remove rear brakes as outlined under "Drum Brakes.
5. Disconnect wheel speed sensors, if equipped, and brake fluid lines from wheel cylinders, then remove backing plates and spindles.
6. Disconnect and remove electrical cables, parking brake cables, and brake fluid lines from rear axle.
7. Support rear axle at rear, then disconnect rear struts.
8. Support rear axle at front, then disconnect from mounting bracket.
9. Remove axle from vehicle.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Tighten to specifications.
b. Bleed brakes as outlined under "Hydraulic Brake Systems.
c. Adjust rear brake pressure, if equipped with a rear brake pressure regulator.
d. Ensure mounting pads for spindles are clean and free of rust and scale.
e. Reset audio coded anti-theft system
