Constant Velocity Joint: Service and Repair
Inner Joint

Replace

Fig. 10 Inner CV Joint To Shaft Installation.

1. Remove axle.
2. Pull CV joint boot and shield back and away from joint.
3. Remove and discard circlip retaining joint to axle.
4. Place axle in a stable press, supporting inner race of joint on a suitable press plate.
5. Press shaft from inner race of joint.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Clean and inspect boot and shaft splines for damage.
b. Press joint onto axle using suitable press tools as shown in Fig. 10.
c. Use new circlip.
d. Ensure boot and joint are packed with correct quantity of a suitable CV joint grease.
