Removing upholstery and padding
Removing upholstery and padding
–  Remove backrest → Chapter.
–  Remove head restraint from backrest.
   
–  Pull operating handle -3- from backrest release (two-door vehicles only).
  Note
If operating handle -3- or respective clip -1- is damaged, replace during installation.
–  Unfold cover for cross-head screw -4- at trim -2- and unscrew cross-head screw.
–  Pull off trim -2-.

–  Loosen clip profiles -2- from each other on underside of backrest.
–  Unhook tensioning wires -1- (sport seat only).

–  Pull off upholstery up to padding wire -1-.
–  Nip through padding clips -2- (sport seat only).
–  Detach padding wire -1- (on front side of backrest) using awl -V.A.G 1636-.

–  Press together lower ends of guides -1- and -2- for headrest and pull out of backrest frame.
–  Take off upholstery and padding with underlay from backrest frame.
