Adjusting selector finger and selector sleeve
Adjusting selector finger and selector sleeve

Note:

The adjustment is only be carried out if selector finger, selector sleeve, clutch housing, gearbox housing, inner selector lever or inner selector lever locking mechanism has been changed.

 
V34-1718
  • ‒ → Fit gauge 3154 with dowel sleeves onto gearbox housing.
  • ‒ Secure mounting VW 387 with gauge and gauge extension.
  • ‒ Fit gauge onto reverse gear selector rod and set with 1 mm preload.
  • ‒ Push selector rod in direction of arrow and set gauge to 0.
  • ‒ Press selector rod in opposite direction, from below, and read off measurement (example: 0.70 mm).
  • ‒ Arrest selector rod in central position (example: 0.70 mm / 2 = 0.35 mm). To do this push selector rod from below until the value 0.35 mm is achieved and then clamp selector rod with bolt -1-.

  • ‒ → Pull selector finger with VW 709 into reverse gear gate and fit measuring finger 3154/1.
 
N34-0174
  • ‒ → Push measuring finger from stop to stop and read off the value on the measurement scale (example: 0.60 mm).
  • ‒ Half measuring value (example: 0.60 mm / 2 = 0.30 mm) and tighten bolt -3-.
  • ‒ Remove mounting VW 387.
 
N34-0170
  • ‒ → Loosen clamping bolt (arrow) only so far as to allow the selector sleeve to be moved slightly on the inner selector lever.
  • ‒ Place inner selector lever in central stop position.
 
N34-0175
  • ‒ → Insert dowel sleeves into clutch housing and fit gauge 3154 on the clutch housing, turned through 180° so that the selector finger and selector sleeves align.
  • ‒ Tighten selector sleeve clamping bolt.
