Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Oil seal extractor -3203-
t  Counter-hold tool -3415-
t  Assembly tool -T10053-
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-

Removing
–  Remove poly V-belt → Chapter.
–  Remove toothed belt → Chapter.
   
–  Remove crankshaft toothed belt pulley. To do this, lock toothed belt pulley using counter-hold tool -3415-.
–  To guide seal extractor -3203-, screw centre bolt into crankshaft to stop by hand.
–  Screw inner part of oil seal extractor -3203- two turns (approx. 3 mm) out of outer part and lock using knurled screw.

–  Lubricate threaded head of oil seal extractor -3203-, place it in position and exerting firm pressure, screw it as far as possible into oil seal.
–  Loosen knurled screw and turn inner part against crankshaft until the oil seal is pulled out.
Installing
  Note
The oil seal sealing lip must not be additionally oiled or greased.
–  Remove oil residue from crankshaft journal using clean cloth.

–  Fit guide sleeve -T10053/1- onto crankshaft journal.
–  Slide oil seal over guide sleeve onto crankshaft journal.
  N13-0513
–  Using press sleeve -T10053-, press in onto stop with central bolt.
–  Install and tension toothed belt → Chapter.
