Removing

→ Fig.1     Releasing brake adjustment

  • ‒ Insert a screwdriver through a hole in the brake drum and push the wedge upwards.
  • ‒ Remove cross-head screw for brake drum and take off brake drum.

Loosen dust cap from seat by tapping lightly on the claw.

  • ‒ Remove 12-point nut.
  • ‒ Pull the hub/wheel bearing unit off the stub axle.

Installing

  • ‒ Push the hub/wheel bearing unit carefully onto the stub axle.
  • Ensure that the hub/wheel bearing unit is not canted!
  • ‒ Use a new 12-point nut and tighten to 175 Nm.

  • ◆ Always renew damaged (dented) dust caps.
  • ◆ Damaged (dented) dust caps allow ingress of moisture, therefore always use the tool illustrated.
